Free H-E-B Vouchers on Social Media are Fake

SAN ANGELO, TX — A promotion voucher that has been passed around on social media for H-E-B has been dubbed a fake.

The Facebook promotion claims to offer $200 to 1,000 people to celebrate the grocery store’s birthday. The store’s birthday is actually Nov. 26, 1905, when it was founded in Kerrville, TX.

The post claims:

“Here at HEB we appreciate our customers. That’s why we decided to giveaway 1000 Gift Vouchers (200$ each) for free! All you need to do is give us your email to send it, and answer a few questions. So, hurry up!”

According to KTXS, when you click the post or link, you are taken to hebpromotion.com, a fake site made to mimics the real H-E-B site. The text on the site is covered with typos and nonsense. The contact number is a fake “555” exchange.

It is best not to engage or click the link.

On Facebook, H-E-B confirmed the promotion is fake.
