San Angelo Police Drag Bottom of Concho River Searching for Missing 15-year-old Daniel Perez

The San Angelo Police Department spent five hours Tuesday afternoon searching for 15-year-old Daniel Perez in the river near downtown.

San Angelo police were seen on the Concho River in boats between the Irving St. bridge and the Celebration Bridge dragging the bottom of the river looking for a body.

Police said that Perez was last seen yesterday at around 5:30 p.m., by the Irving Street low water crossing.  According to SAPD Detective Sgt. Doug Thomas, Perez was with friends yesterday and refused to leave the banks of the river when his friends decided to leave. He was last seen “making his way into the water.”

Thomas said that the friends said Perez was under the influence of an intoxicant, but did not know for sure if it was a drug or alcohol.

The boat search on the Concho River did not reveal anything. The SAPD used a sonar device in the search. “It’s a pretty high tech sonar device that gives a picture of the bottom,” Thomas said. “We didn’t see anything that looks like a body down there.”

As the day turned into night, SAPD called off the water search. Thomas said that his investigation will continue on land.

According to SAPD, Perez is a Hispanic, male, 5'10", 200 lbs, dark brown hair, light brown eyes.  Perez was wearing a white T-shirt, black basketball shorts, and white athletic shoes.

If you have information that can assist in helping safely locate Daniel, please call SAPD Dispatch at 325-657-4315.  If you know his location and he is in need of medical attention, please call 911.

To remain anonymous call 1-855-TIPS-247 or text TIP SAPD to 888777 and follow the instructions.

This is the third juvenile reported missing today. Two brothers went missing earlier from the Park Motel on N. Chadbourne.
