Downtown San Angelo Cafe Shut Down

SAN ANGELO, TX -- A troubled cafe location in downtown San Angelo will be closed this month after the occupant failed to pay rent for the past four months.

The Library Cafe located in the Stephens Central Library at 33 W. Beauregard was being rented by Charles Slack.

According to the Tom Green County Commissioners Court on Tuesday, Slack is three months behind on rent and owes $630.  The lease agreement states that the County can terminate the lease for non-payment of rent. As of April 10, Slack will be four months behind and owe the County $840.

County Commissioners on Tuesday voted to terminate the lease and signed a notice to vacate the premises giving Slack 10 days to get out of the building.  The court is in the process of finding another vendor to operate in the library cafe.

I'm not surprised whenever I was there it was always closed. I get off work at 5 and would go there to study with friends or meet for committees and there was never a person there to serve. Too bad if they were open during good times during the week and weekends they could have made a good profit. during lunch and after 5 when most people get off work or are out of school.
