Wildfire Danger Prompts Red Flag Warning

SAN ANGELO, TX -- The combination of high winds and low humidity prompted the National Weather Service to issue a red flag warning for the Concho Valley Friday.

According to the NWS, expect critical fire weather conditions to develop this afternoon north of Interstate 20. Elsewhere this afternoon, expect elevated to near critical fire weather conditions. The primary hazard, for this afternoon, is for any fire to quickly become out of control, especially across locations north of Interstate 20.

There is a red flag warning for this afternoon and evening and a fire weather watch for Sunday afternoon and evening.

A Fire Weather Watch means that critical fire weather conditions are forecast to occur.  Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly and outdoor burning is not recommended.

The red flag warning is for Nolan,Sterling, Coke, Irion, Tom Green and Crockett counties.
