Border Patrol Agents Arrest Illegal Immigrant Convicted Sex Offender

 

DEL RIO, TX – U.S. Border Patrol agents from the Eagle Pass South Station arrested a convicted sex offender who had been removed from the United States.

“This arrest highlights the dedication of our agents to safeguard our communities from sexual predators who commit these heinous acts,” said Del Rio Sector Chief Patrol Agent Felix Chavez.

According to a press release, on Feb. 23, an agent assigned to the Eagle Pass South Station apprehended Luis Pruneda-Montemayor, 54, who was in the United States illegally. During processing, agents discovered that Pruneda-Montemayor was convicted of aggravated sexual assault in San Antonio on April 12, 1986. He was deported to Mexico on Feb. 13, 2009.

Pruneda-Montemayor faces a charge of 8 USC § 1326 – illegal reentry after deportation – which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. His prior order of removal will be reinstated.
