Early Voting Continues, and Ends March 2

SAN ANGELO, TX — Early voting for the March 6 primary election continues Monday, Feb. 26 until Friday, March 2. Voting is being conducted at the Edd B. and Frances Frink Keyes building at 113 W. Beauregard Ave. Hours are 7 am to 7 pm. Early voting allows voters to take advantage of 60 hours to vote versus 12 hours on Election Day.

Curbside voting is available for voters that are physically unable to enter the poll. Additionally, a new law allows voters with a mobility problem to request to be given voting priority. Conditions that qualify a person to request this priority include: paralysis, lung disease, the use of portable oxygen, cardiac deficiency, severe limitation in the ability to walk due to arthritic, neurological, or orthopedic condition, wheelchair confinement, arthritis, foot disorder, the inability to walk 200 feet without stopping to rest, or use of a brace, cane, crutch, or other assistive device. The voter may also request that anyone that is assisting them be given priority as well. “We have prepared to offer this service to the voters by providing equipment at a separate table to assist with these types of request,” stated Election Administrator Vona Hudson.

Voters are advised that the deadline to apply for a ballot by mail has passed. “Some voters seem confused on when they return the voted ballots to the election office but they should be received by Election Day, March 6th,” advised Hudson. The ballot should be mailed but if the deadline to mail the ballot back to the office is too close, the voter may return the ballot in person to the Election Office on Election Day. “It must be the voter that returns the ballot and they must show ID if they turn it in to us at the office,” said Hudson.

Sample ballots, Election Day voting locations, and hours are available on the Election Office webpage: www.votetomgreencounty.org.

“Voters might find it helpful to look at the sample ballots in advance of coming to vote because the ballots are so long. Also, if they are not sure which primary they want to participate in, they can review the ballots for both parties and know who is running in that party’s primary,” continued Hudson.
