ELDORADO, TX -- On February 7 2018 at approximately 5:10pm, an off duty Schleicher County Corrections Officer observed a male subject attempting to sell a laptop computer inside Stripes Convenience store located off of 277 in Eldorado Texas.
According to Schleicher County Sheriff David Doran, the Corrections Officer called the Schleicher County Sheriff's Office and gave a description of the male subject and license plate of the vehicle he was traveling in.
The license plate indicated the vehicle was stolen out of San Antonio Texas.
Schleicher County Deputy Jose Osornio was dispatched to locate subject who was last reported driving northbound on US Highway 277. The vehicle was located 20 minutes later northbound near the Schleicher/Tom Green County line.
The Deputy initiated his emergency lights in an attempt to stop driver of the stolen vehicle. Driver ignored the Deputy and a pursuit initiated.
The pursuit traveled through Tom Green County, City of San Angelo and ended north of Water Valley near the Tom Green/Coke County Line.
It was later reported that subject Gryczewski traded a laptop computer for a tank of gas at the Shell station located in Eldorado before continuing northbound on US Hwy 277. The laptop has since been recovered.
Subject is identified as Gryczewski, Alex A, 24-year-old male out of Fankfort, IL according to his Drivers License.
Investigation and charges charges will be filed in Schleicher County Texas.
Charges include:
- Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle
- Evading Arrest
- Possession of a controlled substance
Gryczewski remains in custody at the Tom Green County Jail.
Sheriff David R. Doran commended the actions of the Schleicher County Corrections Officer that initiated the report, Schleicher County Deputy Jose Osornio who initiated and led the pursuit, the Tom Green County Law Enforcement, San Angelo Police Department, Texas Department of Public Safety, Sterling County Law Enforcement and all involved for their assistance in recovering this stolen vehicle and doing a tremendous job in keeping our citizens safe during this pursuit.
