TSTC Dorms in Sweetwater Caught Fire; Students Safe

 

SWEETWATER, TX. – The student housing building at the Texas State Technical College campus in Sweetwater was destroyed in a fire, according to KTXS.

The Bluebonnet Inn on campus at 300 Homer K. Taylor Drive ignited around 10:00 a.m. this morning and emergency crews are working hard to fight the flames.

No injuries have been reported in connection with the fire. All 28 students who occupy the dorms have been accounted for and are safe.

Schools officials added that the students would be relocated for the remainder of the semester. 

UPDATE

Linda Lopez, Executive Director of Communications at TSTC in Sweetwater, updated the information on the fire on campus today. 

She reported that it was only one building that the fire was in and the students occupying the dorms will be housed by the school in a hotel until further notice. 

The building can house 48 students when full but only 28 were in the building and all were accounted and safe.
