SAN ANGELO, TX. – January is National Volunteer Blood Donor Month and marks the annual celebration of Blood Donors. It is time to raise awareness and honor those caring individuals who touch the lives of patients through the selfless act of blood donation.
There is a Community Blood Drive today, Jan. 26, and tomorrow, Jan. 27, at Sunset Mall next to Marshall’s. Today the blood donation will begin at 2:30 p.m. and end at 6:30 p.m. Saturday the drive will start at 10:30 a.m. and end at 2:30 p.m.
Donors can receive Cinemark movie passes, Charles Philly Cheese Steak coupon, 3 Parrots coupons, and only on Friday donors receive a free T-shirt.
If you bring someone who doesn’t already have an appointment and after you, both donate, both of you will receive Chick-Fil-A coupons.

Some facts about donating blood include:
People with O-negative blood are known as “universal donors” because their blood can be transfused to anyone.
People of all blood types and ethnicities are encouraged to donate and are critical to maintaining the diversity of the blood supply.
Every two seconds, someone needs blood.
Car accident and trauma victims may need 50 or more blood transfusions.
People can donate one pint of whole blood every 56 days.
Must be at least 16 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health to donate. Donors between 16 and 22 must meet additional height and weight requirements. 16 & 17-year-old donors must present a Minor Donor Permit Form signed by a parent or guardian. The Minor Donor Permit can be found online at www.unitedbloodservices.org.
