Man on Parole for Stealing from a Human Corpse Arrested for Drug Possession Thanks to Duke

(SAPD Press Release)  Just before 9:30 p.m. last night, San Angelo Police conducted a traffic stop on a blue, 2001 Ford Mustang in the 200 block of W. 14th Street.

According to the SAPD, during the stop, K-9 Officer F. Flores deployed Police Service Dog Duke to conduct an open-air sniff around the vehicle. During the sniff, Duke alerted Officers to the presence of narcotics.

During a probable cause search of the vehicle and occupants, one of the passengers resisted and attempted to run. The passenger, who initially gave Officers a false name and date of birth, was eventually identified as Paul N. Villanueva, 37, of Mertzon, Texas. Villanueva was in possession of marijuana and a small amount of suspected narcotics that field-tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine.

SAN ANGELO, TX -- San Angelo Police arrested a convicted felon Tuesday evening on multiple charges including possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest, failure to identify himself, possession of drug paraphernalia and on parole violations.  

37-year-old Paul Villanueva was booked into the Tom Green County Jail at 11:29 p.m. according to the Sheriff’s office.  

Villanueva was on parole for three convictions of stealing property from a corpse. According to court records.  The official charges were Theft of Property from a grave/human corpse.  He was convicted of stealing a wallet and two purses.  

Villanueva remains jailed in lieu of $10,142.00 bond.
