BROWNWOOD, TX—A man was handed a 99-year sentence after his 11th felony conviction on Thursday.
On Wednesday, Tracy Conn III, 45, was convicted by a jury for possession with intent to deliver in the 35th District Court of Brown County.
Conn, a native of Lewisville, and his two co-defendants were arrested after Brown County Sheriff's narcotic investigator Carlyle Gover followed up on a lead saying a car would be traveling through Brownwood with a significant amount of methamphetamine. Conn was traveling with another man and one woman at the time of the arrest.
During the arrest, 30 grams of methamphetamine were found in the vehicle.
Testimony from Conn's mother Laverne, 75, said Tracy was needed to work on the family ranch just outside of Dallas. Prosecutor Chris Brown replied by saying Tracy could have been working on the family ranch. "But he is going to deal drugs. Because that's what he chose to do. You can't fix that," Brown said in the courtroom.
