Judge Hikes Weidner's Bond to $150,000 After DWI Arrest

SAN ANGELO, TX -- Brandi Weidner was arrested in October for Driving While Intoxicated while she was out on bond awaiting trial for manslaughter after leaving the scene of an accident involving the death of Gunnar McNeill.

Weidner was in court Monday for a motion hearing following that DWI arrest.  According to Tom Green County Sheriff’s Deputy Graham Smith he stopped Weidner on Wren Road in Grape Creek after she failed to dim her bright lights.

The deputy told Judge Jay Weatherby that he could smell alcohol when he talked to Weidner and she failed three field sobriety tests.  Her bond was originally set at $5,450 and she made bond and was released the following day.

Weidner’s supervisor at the Wall COOP Gin testified on her behalf Monday.  Mina Abbott said Weidner is a really good employee and is badly needed for her job at the cotton gin which is currently operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  Abbott also testified that Weidner is a single mom with two children and that she is no longer driving.

Judge Weatherby told Weidner that the state and his court had an obligation to keep the people of Tom Green County safe and that while she was awaiting trial for the manslaughter charge she was arrested for DWI and that’s not keeping people safe.

Weatherby raised her bond from $5,450 to $150,000.  She was booked into the Tom Green County Jail Monday afternoon.

Weidner’s jury trial for manslaughter is set for December 11.

I was standing outside the courthouse today when Brandi arrived, how did she get there?, no one was walking with her...I KNOW, she has a teleportation device! Clever!?

Yes Molly Teague!!! U were correct. I was Gunnar McNeill’s Mother, and I cannot tell you how many times she came flouncing into the courthouse, as if it were a waste of her time... just like she did this afternoon. I want to thank you Molly, for representing the people he worked with and loved.
I want to thank Judy McNeill for representing his fathers family, we all loved him so much. I want to thank Vicki Wagner, Uncle Steve’s special one for showing up for Steve. Thank you Peggy McElrath for your continued support in this. Every time I see weidner in court, she just seems so annoyed that she has to b there. I have never wanted vengeance. Nor have I wanted mercy. I simply want my son, Gunnar McNeill to have justice, so he can Rest In Peace

Kerry Sharp, I was honored to be there with you. My only regret is that I had to leave before she was arrested but then I probably would have been held in contempt of court for doing a happy dance....but I do hold contempt for this court system for dragging this out for so long. Happy birthday Gunnar McNeill!

The fact that this woman has the audacity to drive herself to the court proceedings, speaks volume!! She has no respect for the law, or anyone in her path for that matter. I for one am extremely grateful that Judge Weatherby is attempting to keep this lady off the roadway. I pray for her poor children and for her as well as for Gunner's family. Everyone makes mistakes..ONCE.. but by her current actions, it seems that she has not taken responsibility for Gunner's death.

And, I am curious about weidner’s boss saying she drove her there. Molly Teague was right. Weidner walked up alone.Perjury is a crime. She swore under oath that she drove weidner there. When I checked to see which courtroom the hearing was going to b in, at around 1:45, Ms Abbott was already setting on the bench outside the courtroom. Then Ms Angela Ware Carter arrived. 5 minutes before 2:00 , weidner flounced in. They all sat together. Perhaps the people who own the Co-op in Wall should investigate this. If I were a member- which I am not, I don’t think I would want a woman who takes perjury so lightly to work for, or even with me.

Here is another interesting tidbit about Ms Abbott. They are beer drinking buddies. They partied together at the Icehouse on N. Chadbourne. When weidner worked there. She swore on the stand that she had never seen weidner drunk(lol) I will call the DA’s office tomorrow and see if they will pursue purjury charges. To cover this up is absolutely deplorable. Ms Mena Abbott- I will ask you- do you have children? I hope you do. I hope you get to hug them tonight. I hope you have a wonderful meal with them tonight. I hope they comfort you, and you them. I pray no harm ever comes to them. But, I don’t have that anymore. And you- shame on you- are perjuring yourself for the one who took my only child from me. With no remorse. Hope it’s worth it. Madam Karma can b a real bitch.

It's on video with KLST and KSAN, Brandi was walking alone into the courthouse. I had been standing outside for 20 minutes and saw no one standing with Brandi any place so I was surprised to see people sitting with her in the courtroom. I wasn't there for Abbott's testimony but I do know that Brandi showed up alone.
