ABILENE, TX – (Press Release APD) On Oct. 18, the School Resource Officer at Madison Middle School received unrelated reports of staff members and students abusing drugs or possibly selling them. The SRO contacted Abilene’s Narcotics Division and requested investigative follow up.
The following day agents interviewed several staff members and some juvenile students. Two teachers, who were in a relationship, admitted to the use of illicit drugs the week prior. They implicated a teacher’s aide relating to prescription drugs. A search revealed no contraband on their person or vehicles, so they were all released to the care of AISD for personnel considerations.
Unrelated to these allegations, two students were reportedly selling prescription pills that were provided by a cafeteria staff worker. Agents were able to find some evidence to support these allegations, but no arrests have been made yet. The cafeteria worker was also referred to AISD for personnel considerations.
Because the students are juveniles, no information can be released on the status of their investigations.
This is an ongoing investigation. No other information will be released absent any arrests.
