SAN ANGELO, TX — The San Angelo ISD has little to say about the shooting that police say happened in College Hills Saturday night where the victim is rumored on social media to be a wide receiver on the San Angelo Central Bobcats football team.
“We received a report Sunday that an SAISD student was seriously injured over the weekend. According to the SAPD, the incident is under investigation. We cannot comment on particular student matters because of student confidentiality,” San Angelo ISD spokesman Derrick Jackson stated this morning in a text.
Sunday evening, San Angelo police identified a subject they arrested in connection with the shooting. Damion Confer, 17, was arrested and charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon. The victim, an 18-year-old high school student, fights for his life in an area hospital with a gunshot wound in the stomach.
The mother of the accused, Dorie Confer, responded on our Facebook wall this morning.
“I appreciate everyone's concern and I am sorry about these events. This is my son so I would appreciate some respect for his family until this is all handled and settled. Thank you again. I see you’re angry and [full of] hatred. I’m sorry my son caused those emotions. God Bless you all,” she stated.
