Heroin Overdoses in Abilene Lead to Arrests

 

ABILENE, TX – On Oct. 6, between the hours of 1:45 a.m. and 12:41 p.m., there have been three death investigations related to drug overdoses in Abilene. A fourth person survived thanks to quick medical attention and because they admitted to using heroin prior to the medical distress.

The victims who died were located at different locations and died at different times.  The fourth victim, a 34-year-old white female, survived the incident and is being treated at a local hospital.  These cases are all under investigation. There is no readily apparent cause of death, which typically indicates some type of overdose in the absence of any other medical condition. Two of the victims were in a dating relationship and there is no other reported connection between the other victims.

The Abilene Police Department Special Operations Division with the assistance of Street Crimes, executed a search warrant on Oct. 11 at 5:30 p.m. at a home located in the 7900 block of Bonnie Circle in south Abilene. Agents arrested 36-year-old Michael Thompson for Possession of Heroin.  Thompson was eventually taken into custody and is currently at the Taylor County Jail. He is charged with State Jail Felony Possession of Heroin with a bond of $150,000.

Oct. 16, Agents from the Abilene Police Department’s Special Operation Division arrested John Anthony Carrion, 28.

During the investigation of the recent overdoses, information was learned that Mr. Carrion was involved in trafficking heroin. He was found in a traffic stop in the 800 block of South Willis. A search warrant was then executed on his residence in the 1300 block of Jeanette St. Carrion was arrested and transported to the Taylor County Jail.

The investigation into these overdoses is still ongoing and more charges may be forthcoming.
