SAN ANGELO, TX —Ricky Villarreal has been investigated by the Tom Green County Sheriff’s office for falsifying documents and the investigation has been turned over to the District Attorney’s office.
The Tom Green County Bail Bond Board met Wednesday morning and rejected a proposal to allow Villarreal, dba Freedom/Libertad Bail Bonds, to self suspend writing bonds for 45 days. Ken W. Good with the Good Law Firm from Tyler offered to have Villarreal not write bonds for 45 days while his firm retrained him. Wood represents International Fidelity Insurance Co. and Villereal is a representative for that insurance company.
Tom Green County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Dale Pearce attended the Bail Bond Board meeting and presented a letter detailing the investigation. Sheriff’s deputy William Fiveash conducted the investigation. According to the letter, “Both Ken W. Good and Ricky Villarreal advised that they, Freedom Bail Bonds, were amending the false documents to show true amounts and would be filing them with the proper courts. However, this was done after it became manifest that the falsity of the statements/documents were exposed."
Fiveash’s letter ended this way, “Again, the investigation into Ricky Villarreal, dba Freedom/Libertad Bail Bonds has been completed, and the findings have been forwarded to the District Attorney’s office for review and prosecution. I hope that with the totality of the events that have been brought to light, the District Attorney’s office will believe the same as I, that Ricky Villarreal, dba Freedom/Libertad Bail Bonds, falsely made and presented the 17.19 affidavits, with knowledge they were false and with intent to affect the course or outcome of the investigation or official proceeding, and proceed with prosecution.”
Pct. 2 Justice of the Peace J.P. McGuire is on the Bail Bond board. He asked if actions by Villarreal were felonies. Chief Deputy Pearce said yes.
Upon the advice of the Bail Bond Board’s attorney, Ginger Treadwell, the board began the process of suspending or revoking Villarreal’s permit to issue bonds.
The Tom Green County Bail Bond Board membership is: Chair Dianna Spieker, Vice Chair Louie Perez, Secretary Liz McGill and members Beth Holland-Mull, Sheri Woodfin, Sandy Kenny, Judge Allen Gilbert, JP J.P. McGuire, DA John Best, Judge Penny Roberts, Judge Brad Goodwin and attorney Randy Stout.
