SAN ANGELO, TX — The defense of Wall stepped up again on Homecoming holding their competition to under 10 points for the second straight week.
Lago Vista was unable to find any rhythm whatsoever on offense, with multiple turnovers forced by a Wall defense that dominated all night.
With 3:04 left in the first quarter, the Hawks had already charged out to a 21-0 lead and the tide did not change as the Hawks scored 57 unanswered points.
Couch Houston Guy said he “felt like we had a chance to put them away pretty quick if we could pull away early,” which was exactly what the Hawks did.
The Vikings managed to find the end zone late in the fourth with less than five minutes left, but the game was already out of reach for Lago Vista.
When speaking of the Wall defense, Coach Guy stated, “Defensively, again we played lights out defensively, I'm really proud of our defensive guys and our defensive coaches for the game plan that they put in.”
Gage Weishuhn of the Hawks had a stellar performance recording multiple sacks on the night.
Sterling Guy also made several big time plays throughout the night and forced Lago Vista’s offense and special teams into turnovers.
Going forward Coach Guy believes that his experienced defensive unit will be the “anchor” of this Hawks team and thinks they will continue to “just get better and better,” as the season continues.
Offensively, the Hawks looked as sharp as ever with quarterback Brock Rosenquist leading the way with five total touchdowns.
Coach Guy attributed the Hawks’ success on offense to “some big play action plays early,” which “loosened up their secondary.”
Tymber Carr was especially explosive for the Hawks in the first half with several big plays including a touchdown reception that went for more than 80 yards.
Garrett Stephens, Casey Braden, Drake Holifield, and Garrett Bridgford of Wall all found the end zone as well.
Next week Wall (3-0) will travel to play undefeated Eastland (3-0). Last year the Hawks earned a home victory over Eastland with a score of 28-14.
