[UPDATE MYSTERY SOLVED!] Mysterious Debris Floats by Glenmore Park on the Concho River in San Angelo

A mysterious object that appeared to be wrapped in plastic was witnessed floating down the Concho River near Glenmore Park off Ave. L late this morning. Firemen at the firefighter training center across the street called police to investigate shortly before noon on Saturday.

San Angelo Police arrived and are investigating. We will report what the mystery package was as soon as we find out. Pictures to follow.

Update 1:20 p.m.

Sometime before noon, a parent and child noticed something floating in the river. It appeared to be a plastic package. The parent went to the fire department across the street and reported the strange object. Due to the nature of the event, the FD called the San Angelo Police Dept. The SAPD arrived and waited for the "package" to float closer to the shore. Initial discovery indicated that the object was a large, bloated and smelly and dead beaver wrapped in garbage. "I had to get out of there, the smell was so bad," said John Basquez, our reporter on the scene.

SAPD notified animal control and the "package" was taken to be disposed.

And just think of this when you get a drink of water tonight seeing as how the water plant is directly across the river from where this was happening and pump out of the river right there in order to send it into your faucets.....
