Former Teacher Arrested for Alleged Sexual Relationship with Student

CROSS PLAINS, TX-- Dillon Kyle Phillips, 34, turned himself in to the Callahan County Sheriff's Department on Thursday, Aug. 24 after a warrant was issued for his arrest. Phillips is suspected of having a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old female student of Cross Plains High School.

Sheriff Terry Joy told KTXS in Abilene the incident happened "a few weeks ago."

Phillips used to be the band director for San Saba High School and was a consultant to the Music Department at Howard Payne University in Brownwood.

"As a condition of employment by HPU, the university had obtained a clear background check on Mr. Phillips and he had completed sexual harassment awareness training provided by the university," spokeswoman Coby Sauce said to KTXS.

Callahan County Sheriffs are still investigating this matter.
