Tropical Storm Harvey Expected to Strengthen bringing Heavy Rain to Parts of Texas

SAN ANGELO, TX -- Forecasters are expecting tropical depression Harvey to strengthen as it heads to the Texas by Friday bringing heavy rain, flooding and storm surge to the Texas Gulf Coast.

San Angelo has an 80 percent chance of rain Friday and a 60 percent chance of rain Saturday as of now but that could change depending on the track Harvey takes over the next few days.

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Harvey should be approaching the Texas Coast by Friday and should reach hurricane strength.

Harvey is expected to produce total rain accumulations of 10 to 15 inches by Tuesday along the middle and upper Texas coast including the cities of Houston and Galveston.
