Grand Jury Goes After Drug Dealers

SAN ANGELO, TX -- A Tom Green County Grand Jury has indicted six suspects on felony drug manufacture and delivery charges.  

Jardariun Kentral McCarthy is accused of running from officers after a traffic stop.  Court records show McCarthy, 21,had between 4 grams and 200 grams of a white powdery substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine.  The arrest occurred on June 9.  McCarthy is facing three first degree felonies for manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance.  

Arthur Jason Smith Jr., 35, also ran from police when he was approached in the 400 block of W. Beauregard on June 6.  According to the arresting officer, Smith threw his backpack and phone over a fence.  He is accused of having 7 grams of methamphetamine with him as well as a firearm.  Smith is a convicted felon.  Smith is charged with first degree manufacture and deliver of a controlled substance and a third degree felony possession of a firearm by a felon.

Jacob Ray Hernandez was indicted by the grand jury with felony drug manufacture and delivery .  Police officers executed a search warrant in the 1000 block of Culberson on June 19 where they found a black, rock-like substance suspected to be tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) in the freezer door in the kitchen.  The 25-year-old is charged with first degree felony manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance and third degree felony possession.    

On the same date and at the same location officers searched the location and found two bags of suspected cocaine.  Christian Alexandra Garcia was charged with first degree felony manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance and third degree possession of a controlled substance.  

Miguel Angel Fernandez was the passenger in a vehicle stopped in the 100 block of W. Ave G. on February 10.  Officers searched the vehicle and found a weapon and a plastic bag with a white rock like substance.  The 29-year-old Fernandez is charged with second degree felony possession of a controlled substance and third degree felony unlawful possession of a firearm.  

On November 2, 2016 DPS troopers stopped a vehicle driven by 24-year-old Lucas Phillip Liberty.  Troopers searched the vehicle after smelling marijuana.  Liberty told the troopers he had smoked marijuana in the vehicle and there was less than half a pound in the trunk because he had just stocked up.  Troopers also found an AR15 and a 9mm handgun.  Liberty is charged with second degree felony possession of a controlled substance.  

In all, the grand jury handed down 30 counts of possession of a controlled substance and six manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance.
