BROWNWOOD, TX -- A motorcyclist led authorities on a two-county chase with speed reaching 145 mph last Saturday starting at 5 p.m. The suspect - believed to be a Fort Hood soldier- eventually ditched the motorcycle in the Ownes community between May and Brownwood.
The 45-minute chase involved a Department of Public Safety (DPS) trooper in Eastland County and later involved the Brown County Sheriff's office.
The trooper lost sight of the motorcyclist in May. He was attempting to stop the rider for speeding.
“We believe we know who is operating the vehicle,” Brown County Sheriff Vance Hill told KTXS.
“At two different points I was face to face with the driver and tried to stop him physically,” the sheriff stated. “Another time he was hiding at a cemetery … and then one time he (gave Hill) the finger.”
Hill added that the driver is facing state felony charges in Eastland and Brown counties. The name of the suspect won't be immediately released by authorities.
