Blizzard Forming on Knickerbocker Road; That’s What I like About Texas

SAN ANGELO, TX -- Construction is underway on a new Dairy Queen restaurant on Knickerbocker Rd. in San Angelo.

The new Dairy Queen is at 3006 Knickerbocker Rd. one lot away from where a Dairy Queen was located decades ago.  The former Dairy Queen location was a Schlotzsky’s sandwich store and is now a car title loan business.

According to the City of San Angelo Building Permits department construction of the new building is estimated to cost $875,000.

The restaurant chain started in 1940 in Joliet, Illinois.  According to the corporate website, there are over 6,000 restaurants in 20 countries today.

Dairy Queen is known for its frozen ice cream desserts, the Blizzard, Belt Buster and Hunger Buster hamburgers, tacos and steak finger baskets.
