Reason For Afternoon Motorcycle Accident Unknown, One Severely Injured

SAN ANGELO, TEXAS -- Shortly before 4 p.m. this afternoon, San Angelo Police Department (SAPD) Officers responded to a major motor vehicle accident in the 500 block of Baker Street involving a motorcyclist and truck.

LIVE!'s on-scene reporter has confirmed that the female driver of the motorcycle was taken to a nearby hospital via ambulance.

This is a developing story, LIVE! is currently on scene and will continue to update as more information becomes available.

UPDATE: 5:30 pm

In an update provided by SAPD's Public information Officer Tracy Gonzalez, this afternoon's two-vehicle accident is still under investigation.

Around 3:23 p.m., police and firefighter personnel were dispatched to the 500 block of Baker Street. Upon arrival, officers located two vehicles, one 2009 F-150 white City Water Utilities truck and one 2002 Honda motorcycle.

The motorcycle at the time of the crash had two female occupants. The driver, 60, of the motorcycle was rushed to a nearby hospital for incapacitating injuries. She was not wearing a helmet. The passenger, 54, was treated on the scene for minor injuries; she was wearing her helmet. The 40-year-old driver of the Water Utilities  truck reported no injuries and he was wearing his seatbelt at the time of impact.

Motor Investigators and Crime Scene Investigators have all responded to the scene. Gonzalez says the preliminary report reflects that at the time of the crash, the  driver of the F-150 was headed eastbound on Rust Street and the motorcycle was westbound on Baker when the two collided. Gonzalez adds that the driver of the City's truck is adamant that he had stopped at his stop sign before driving through the intersection.

At this time, because the driver of the motorcycle is in the hospital and further investigation is needed, it is unknown at this time who had the right of way. Therefore, citations are forthcoming, pending investigation. There were no witnesses to the accident.

Hmmmmm.... stop sign on Rust St., Baker St. through. It's not rocket science who was asst fault.
LOOK for motorcycles!

there seems to be a lot of accidents in this area. I haven't lived here long but have noticed that the drivers here, in general are not very good at driving. So given that maybe I should be more surprised that there aren't MORE accidents. I'm totally shocked at the number of people is see driving while on their cell phones. Is that legal here?

At least the city will have a good excuse for why they can't honor the next police contract....... It'll be because they had to pay out about 5 million on this lawsuit.......
