Ford said an alcohol abuse and drug problem is cropping up again in the county’s largest public park and reports of zoned-out people frequenting the park are coming in more than they were just a year ago. Ford led a county effort to clean up Pugh Park, build better facilities, and a boat ramp for the South Concho River.

At the scene, law enforcement officers are pushing the media back from where the man was found on the ground. The Sheriff is just beginning the investigation, so very little will be released until the man is identified.

Update 6 p.m.

Justice of the Peace Judge Fred Buck pronounced the man dead at approximately 5 p.m. the Sheriff said. Buck ordered an autopsy on the body. The Sheriff is withholding releasing the name of the victim for now while family members are notified.
