SAN ANGELO, TX — A work truck stolen in the county was recovered during a response to a hit and run crash early Tuesday afternoon.
According to SAPD Officer Caleb Wasson, a citizen who witnessed the hit and run in Grape Creek pursued the work truck into the city limits of San Angelo after calling 9-1-1.
While responding to the runaway work truck, San Angelo police learned the truck may be stolen. Because of that citizen’s help, San Angelo police and Tom Green County Sheriff’s Deputies were able to locate the stolen truck and apprehend the driver at the Cactus Car Wash near Junius and Howard Streets. There were no injuries.

The suspect who was driving the work truck may face multiple charges, starting with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
Police said the owner of the truck was on the way to the scene at 2:15 p.m.
