After more than a month of being on the run, Calvin Dunn, Jr., 21, broke the silence about the shooting of his mother.
Dunn told a local new source during an interview at the Taylor County Jail that he did not shoot his mother, adding that he loved her and they had a strong relationship.
"Nah I didn't shoot my mama, that wasn't even in my mind. I wasn't raised like that," Dunn said.
Without giving exact details about the shooting, he said he knew running away did not look good, however, he was fearful for his life.
Dunn recalled seeing the police with guns surrounding his family’s home and was fearful of being shot on sight.
Shortly after fleeing to Alabama, Dunn decided to turn himself in to clear his name. On Wednesday, Dunn locked arms with his family members and marched up to the Taylor County Jail to surrender. Dunn spoke to his mother that same day.
He recalled the words of encouragement his mother spoke to him, “Man I know that you didn’t do this and you know you didn’t do this.”
“She said, ‘God helped me through this, so God is going to help you get through that,” Dunn recalled in the interview.
