SAN ANGELO, TX — At 4 p.m. Thursday afternoon, San Angelo police officers were dispatched to Shannon Medical Center’s emergency room. Upon arrival, they learned that a 14-month-old female had been shot.
“This incident is very fresh,” said SAPD Spokeswoman Tracy Gonzalez. Not many other details were released officially. Gonzalez said the child is being transported to Cook’s Children’s Hospital in Dallas, though she had no information about what kind of injury the gunshot caused to the child or what condition the child was in.

At Shannon, police were seen inspecting a black fullsize SUV. Gonzalez could not release where the incident took place, but said the Child Crimes Unit and Crime Scene Investigators are involved in an active investigation of the incident. It appeared that the child was rushed to Shannon via private vehicle, likely the black SUV.
