SAN ANGELO, TX — Around 3:30 p.m. this afternoon, San Angelo police officers responded to a major motor vehicle accident. Responding police officers stated that both a black Fiat and a black Ford Expedition were southbound on S. Abe, just past the W. Concho Ave. intersection, when the Fiat changed lanes, causing the Expedition to collide with it.
Due to the impact, the Fiat went out of control and sped down the exit ramp into Santa Fe Park, where it came to a stop after hitting a lamp post.
The expedition had three occupants, a male, a female, and their grandchild. The Fiat had one passenger, the driver.
Police issued one traffic citation to the driver of the Expedition for not having insurance. The Fiat driver was not given a citation at this time. This may or may not change, pending investigation.
The driver of the Fiat was rushed to Shannon Medical Center with unknown injuries. Police said the Fiat driver my have suffered a medical issue prior to the collision.
