SAN ANGELO, TEXAS -- Around 7 p.m. this evening, San Angelo Police Department (SAPD) officers responded to the 800 block of Upton Street in regards to a shots fired call.
Officers have since secured the residence. An on-scene LIVE! reporter has stated that one person was rushed to a nearby hospital with police escort.
This is an ongoing investigation. LIVE! will provide an update when more information become available.

In a statement given shortly after 8 p.m. this evening, Public Information Officer Tracy Gonzalez said that upon arriving to a shots fired call in the 800 block of Upton Street, responding officers discovered a 15-year-old male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.
The preliminary investigation has revealed that the 15-year-old and two friends were playing with a firearm when it discharged and struck the victim in the head.
The teen was transported to Shannon Medical Center with life-threatening injuries by ambulance. No further details are available regarding his condition.
This is an ongoing investigation. Both Detectives and Crime Scene Investigation units are on the scene. Officer Gonzalez reiterated that the shooting does appear to be accidental.
The area has been temporarily blocked off.

Since yesterday evening, detectives with the San Angelo Police Department's (SAPD) Criminal Investigation Division have been investigating an apparent accidental shooting of a teenage boy on the 800 block of Upton Street.
Just before 7:00 p.m. SAPD were dispatched to the residence on Upton Street for a a report of a shooting. There, officers found a 15-year-old boy suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. Officers administered first aid to the victim until Fire Department Medics arrived. The victim was then transported by ambulance to Shannon Medical Center for treatment of life-threatening injuries.
Subsequent to the preliminary investigation, Police have learned that the victim and two 15-year-old male friends were at the Upton Street residence playing with a firearm. As they were playing, the firearm discharged and struck the victim. No one else was injured.
The juvenile who shot the victim was transported to Police Headquarters for questioning. Following the interview, the juvenile was transported to the Tom Green County Juvenile Detention Center where he was charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
This is an ongoing investigation and no other information is available to release at this time. Detectives James Hernandez is the lead investigator for this case.
