SAN ANGELO, TX – Shortly before 12 p.m. this afternoon, San Angelo Police (SAPD) officers were dispatched to the intersection of FM 2288 and Arden Rd to investigate a 3-vehicle crash. Access to FM 2288 was temporarily blocked as officers attempted to clear the scene.
A Ford Transit was traveling on Arden Rd and was in the process of turning left onto 2288 when the driver realized that a GMC Truck was traveling northbound on 2288. The driver of the Ford Transit stopped in the middle of the road causing the Ford truck to clip the front of the vehicle as it attempted to avoid a collision.
At the same time, a Chevy Tahoe was Traveling southbound on 2288 and had come to a stop at the signal light as it awaited to make a left turn onto Arden Rd. After clipping the front of the Ford Transit the GMC then impacted the front of the Tahoe causing major damage to the front of the vehicle. The driver of the Tahoe was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
According to Officer Laudermilk, the driver of the Ford Transit was issued a citation for failing to yield the right of away at a stop sign. Both the driver and passenger of the Transit did not appear to be injured and the driver of the GMC truck refused medical treatment by EMT services.
SAPD Officers had a difficult time as they attempted to direct traffic away from the scene. Even though there were several police vehicles and traffic cones that signaled the area had been blocked off, drivers still attempted to turn onto FM 2288 heading towards Grape Creek. Delays are expected until officers clear the scene.
