Angelo State's Sigma Kappa Members Participate in First Ever Annual Day of Service

SAN ANGELO, TX - Local members of Sigma Kappa at Angelo State University participated in the national organization's inaugural Day of Service last week. Overall, 48 members of the chapter provided hand-written letters and personally made "goody bags" for the patients of The Springs, 6201 Grand Court Rd., said a press release from the organization.

“Seeing their smiles, laughs, and just altogether faces light up each time we go visit is such a rewarding feeling,” said Carissa Hogeda, Public Relations Chair of the ASU Zeta Kappa Chapter. “It, without a doubt, feels like the furthest thing from ‘service,’ [but] rather an opportunity to get to personally interact with them.”

Hogeda said the Zeta Kappa Chapter at ASU is comprised of over 48 women who are leaders in many other organizations, intramural sports, homecoming festivities, other Greek-life sorority and fraternity events, and much more.

Sigma Kappa Sorority, founded in 1874, is a national not-for-profit organization of more than 165,000 women dedicated to excellence in academics, personal character, and service to society. The purpose of Sigma Kappa Sorority is to “provide women lifelong opportunities and support for social, intellectual, and spiritual development by bringing women together to positively impact our communities.”
