Another San Angelo Man Arrested for Child Pornography Possession

SAN ANGELO, TX - Last week, the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office arrested another San Angelo man for possession of child pornography.

On Monday, March 20, TGCSO Sergeant Andy Alwine initiated a child pornography investigation after receiving a Cyber Tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children indicating someone at a residence in the 2000 block of Raney Street had downloaded known images of child pornography.

"On Thursday, March 23, the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Criminal Investigation Division executed a search warrant for a residence in the 2000 block of Raney Street," said Sheriff Jones. "The search warrant authorized the investigators to search for and seize any item or material that visibly depicted child pornography."

Sheriff Jones said investigators seized digital electronic devices that contained a large number of video files along with digital pictures that depicted children younger than 18 years of age at the time the image was made engaging in sexual conduct. TGCSO was assisted by agents of Homeland Security in the execution of the search warrant.

Additionally, on March 23, Sergeant Alwine signed a complaint charging Ruben Ortiz Haro, 47, with Possession of Child Pornography, a felony of the 3rd degree. Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace J.P. McGuire issued an arrest warrant, and Haro was arrested on the same date and booked into the Tom Green County Jail. Bond was set at $10,000.00.

"Haro was released from jail on March 24, 2017 after posting bond," said Sheriff Jones.

This investigation will be presented to the 119th District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
