SAN ANGELO, TEXAS – The San Angelo Symphony Orchestra is gearing up for its March 4th concert, Bond and Beyond, where musicians will be recognizing Mrs. Elta Joyce McAfee and EJM Ranch.
Mrs. McAfee is a long-time supporter of the San Angelo Symphony Orchestra, and has served numerous executive positions including President of the Board of Directors. Most recently, she has demonstrated her love for West Texas and the performing arts by contributing as the major donor to the City Auditorium renovation project.
Tomorrow’s concert will take listeners on an exciting ride through the world of the legendary spy James Bond with a symphonic tribute featuring music from several iconic Bond films paired with musical works of famed composers Holst and Wagner.
Hector Guzman, music director for the Symphony, describes the concert as “a crossover event” where the audience can fully enjoy classical music as well as themes from ‘007.
The Symphony Orchestra is also pleased to feature two guest artists, Pianist Daniela Liebman, Russian Music International Competition winner, and crowd favorite, soprano Janeene Williams, throughout the concert. Liebman “will be performing a piano concerto,” said Guzman excitedly, and “Williams is going to sing two themes: “Nobody Does it Better” from the movie The Spy Who Loved Me and “Skyfall” from the most recent Bond movie.”
Courtney Mahaffey, executive director of the Symphony, is thrilled to feature the two women as well.
“Daniela is a 14-year-old international winning pianist who began studying piano at the age of 5,” said Mahaffey. “Janeene is a long-time favorite of San Angelo and recently became a member of the professional chamber choir Conspire, which has been nominated for numerous Grammy awards.”
Furthermore, audiences will be able to enjoy a live feed showcasing artwork from children in the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts’ “Arts and Music” program. Several guests from the West Texas Boys Ranch will also be in attendance as well.
Tickets are available at the Symphony office located in the City Hall's West Mezzanine at 72 W. College Ave., and at the following locations: In Vino Veritas, Legend Jewelers, Elite Physique on Southwest Blvd., and Blair’s Western Wear.
Ticket prices are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors, and $10 for students, active military, and children. For more information about the concert and future concerts, please visit www.sanangelosymphony.org, or call (325)658-5877.
