EAGLE PASS, TX- U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Eagle Pass Port of Entry prevented a woman from smuggling narcotics into the U.S., said a press release this week.
According to the release, on Feb. 10, CBP officers at Camino Real International Bridge inspected a taxi as it arrived into the United States from Mexico. Using a CBP canine during inspection, officers discovered a variety of illegal drugs in the possession of a passenger, a 25-year-old Dallas woman.
CBP officers retrieved six small baggies of alleged cocaine from the woman’s purse and concealed within her clothing. Also, three small baggies of alleged crystal methamphetamine, and one small baggie of alleged black tar heroin were found concealed within the woman’s clothing.
Officers seized a total of 32.40 grams of cocaine, 1.03 grams of crystal methamphetamine and 0.90 grams of black tar heroin.
According to the press release, CBP officers arrested the woman, and the case was turned over to the Maverick County Sheriff’s office for prosecution.
“This interception of dangerous drugs exemplifies the teamwork of our officers working at our port,” said Port Director John Brandt, with the Eagle Pass Port of Entry.
