JONES COUNTY, TEXAS — A family in Jones County found an adult rattlesnake in their toilet, Big Country Snake Removal posted on their Facebook page.
According to the company, the snake was the first one seen on the property for several years. But the snake found in the toilet led to a frightening discovery underneath the house and in the storm cellar.

“Intuition took me directly to a storm cellar where I safely removed 13 adult rattlesnakes. After a thorough perimeter check, I crawled underneath the house where I removed another 10, 5 being babies.... 24 snakes total, (including the toilet snake) and the family had no idea,” Big Country Snake Removal stated.
The snake catchers said rattlesnakes can be very cryptic and secretive, and rely on camouflage to survive.

“Just because you don’t see them, doesn’t mean they’re not there,” they stated.
Jones County is northwest of Abilene.
Rattlesnakes carry large quantities of venom that is highly toxic, experts at RattleSnakes.com stated. Although the venom is weaker than the world’s vipers and cobras, Copperheads and water moccasins have comparatively weak venoms as well. Nonetheless, rattlesnakes have the ability to strike with long fangs causing deep wounds, the website states.
