Odessa: Husband Attempts to Set Wife on Fire

ODESSA, TX- The craziness from Odessa continues. On Sunday, Jan. 8, just before midnight, the Odessa Police Department (OPD) was dispatched to the 2200 block of Medford Court in reference to a disturbance.

Forty-three-year-old Trung Van Tran was arrested on scene for attempting to light his 41-year-old wife on fire.

As the OPD investigated the scene, it was revealed that the couple had an altercation and “Tran doused his wife with lighter fluid and tried to light her on fire,” NewsWest 9 reported.

“According to police, witnesses had to stop Tran as he held a lighter in his hand,” NewsWest 9 said. “Further investigation revealed Tran pushed his wife and hit her in the eye.”

Tran was charged and arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
