Brady PD Arrests Felon After Locating Stolen Vehicle

BRADY, TX – After Brady Police responded to a suspicious vehicle call on Dec. 29, 2016, they discovered it was related to a car theft reported earlier that night.

At 8:20 p.m. on that night, Brady Police dispatched to the 600 Block of West 15th Street to investigate the theft of a 1999 white two-door Jeep Wrangler with Texas registration. The owner informed police that the Jeep had been taken from his property without his consent or knowledge, and the search for the vehicle began.

According to a press release from Brady PD, officers, at 9:41 p.m., responded to another call relating to a suspicious person at the Vision Heights Church (2300 Block of Menard Highway). The jeep was then located on the south side of the church. One male and one female suspect were at the scene when PD arrived.

The search conducted led to the discovery of the keys of the Jeep and to documents that identified a male suspect on scene. Cougar Austin Tubbs, 25, was arrested and charged with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle.

Tubbs’ I.D. and court documents found inside the Jeep allowed PD to identity Tubbs and discover he had two outstanding warrants for Theft of Property Less than $500 out of Bexar County – Bond Forfeiture, and for a Theft of Property Less than $500 case out of Guadalupe County.

The press release stated that Tubbs was taken to the McCulloch County Sheriff’s Office where he was then booked and jailed for the theft charge and outstanding warrants.

The female suspect, questioned and identified, was released from the scene with no criminal charges. The Jeep and its contents were returned to the owner.
