Two Previously Charged Sex Offenders Found by U.S Border Patrol Agents

DEL RIO, TX- U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Eagle Pass and Brackettville stations, arrested two convicted sex offenders who had previously been removed from the U.S.

On Dec. 4, Oswaldo Bienvenido Galo-Garcia, 57, an undocumented immigrant from Honduras, was apprehended by Eagle Pass Border Patrol agents near Eagle Pass. During processing, agents discovered that in June 1993, Galo-Garcia was arrested and pled guilty to indecency with a child in Pharr, using the alias “Alexander Lopez Jr.” Galo-Garcia was sentenced to two years probation and was eventually deported back to Honduras on Sept. 25, 2015. 

In a separate incident on Dec. 7, Oscar Omar Rivas-Izaguirre, 24, an undocumented immigrant from Honduras, entered the United States illegally. While attempting to further his entry into the United States, he was arrested by Border Patrol agents assigned to the Brackettville Station. During processing, agents discovered that in Oct. 2013, Rivas-Izaguirre was convicted of a sex offense, child-fondling, and was deported from the United States and sent back to Honduras on Sept. 28, 2015.

“Two serious offenders were stopped short of possibly doing more harm to the people of this great nation,” said Del Rio Sector Acting Chief Patrol Agent Matthew J. Hudak. “The commitment our Border Patrol agents have in keeping America secure is a continuous effort; and this is one more example.”

Galo-Garcia and Rivas-Izaguirre both face a charge of illegal re-entry after deportation, which carries a possible sentence of up to 20 years in prison.
