SAN ANGELO, TX –With the fall and winter months bringing mostly above average temperatures, it’s about time the forecast took a dip into colder temperatures. This Wednesday night, the first major cold front of the year will be setting in, and Thursday morning, it will definitely feel like Christmas is here.
Per the National Weather Service, the cold front is expected to bring the temperatures to the 20s, and possibly lower in some areas. The cold front will begin to move into the state Wednesday night and Thursday morning, but, by the end of Thursday evening, San Angeloans will want to have the heater cranked up and/or the fireplace going because the cold will hit full force.
With the strong arctic cold, citizens of the Concho Valley can expect temperatures under freezing that could become hazardous if precipitation is present. Even though there is only a slight chance of rain for the day, the low temperatures could cause local bridges and overpasses to ice over.
The cold front will be affecting the entire state with each region experiencing low temperatures. The weather is expected to begin warming up by Friday and reach the mid 60s by Sunday. The possibility of another cold front could be expected by the end of next week.
As always, residents are encouraged to take precautions when encountering this type of weather. Whether it be caution when driving, protecting pets and plants and outdoor pipes, the extreme temperature can be hazardous for those who are not prepared.
