BROWNWOOD, TX - On December 7, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., local Brownwood non-profits, churches, schools and government agencies can obtain surplus items at no cost. According to a City of Brownwood press release, the Timmons warehouse, located at the corner of East Baker and South Greenleaf, will be open for this surplus extravaganza.
"The surplus items are primarily office equipment, office furniture and small miscellaneous pieces," said the release. "City Council declared the items as surplus property available for donation on November 8, 2016. The items will be available on a first come, first serve basis."
The release also noted that parking is available at the Senior Citizens Center, with additional parking behind the Senior Citizens Center in grass RV spaces. City officials ask for people not to park along the street. Also, vehicles may be moved to the loading dock for loading of items. People must be prepared to load and transport items on Dec. 7 during the stated time because no items will be held for later pickup.
"All local non-profits, churches, schools, and government agencies are able to collect the free surplus items," said the release. "Individuals collecting items will need to show organization identification or provide a letter proving non-profit status from the entity they are representing before items are able to be taken."
