SAN ANGELO, TX - Tomorrow is a day to be thankful for what we have. In the tradition of Thanksgiving, people celebrate all they are thankful for, and, as per tradition, there is usually a bountiful feast to celebrate that thankfulness.
Although many families share their own home-cooked meals, there are some whose traditions involve taking a trip to their family's favorite restaurant. Or, there are some people who have retired cooking on this day, and prefer to sit back and enjoy someone else's cooking.
Whatever the case may be, for those San Angeloans who prefer to dine out on Thanksgiving, some local establishments will open their doors for a few hours to ensure people and families enjoy their Thanksgiving holiday.
One such establishment, The River Terrace Restaurant, located at 800 W. Ave. D, will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., but staff are accepting customers by reservation only.
As of now, River Terrace has an 11 a.m. slot and a 1 p.m. reservation slot. Mike, with the River Terrace Restaurant, explained that all of the 1 p.m. reservation slots have been filled, however. A few slots are still open for the 11 a.m. reservation though. To check availability at River Terrace, call (325)655-5491.
Mike added that the restaurant will be having “a traditional Thanksgiving dinner.” He listed items such as orange rosemary turkey with dressing and gravy, beef tenderloin medallions with a wild mushroom demi glaze, green bean casserole, canned yams, buttered corn and much more.
There are also kid-friendly items available such as popcorn chicken bites, mac n’ cheese, assorted salad and a breakfast bar.
Another restaurant open for Thanksgiving will be the Peppercorn Grill. Peppercorn open from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday.
For the Peppercorn Grill, reservations are not required. The owner of Peppercorn Grill, Gary Hardegree, said people can expect a “huge fabulous buffet.”
Hardegree also mentioned that the restaurant will have food fit for a “traditional Thanksgiving meal.” Staff will serve turkey, stuffing, country ham, loads of salad and fruit salad, as well as many desserts.
“We will have a minimum of a 50-foot buffet. It will be huge,” Hardegree noted.
If San Angeloans do chose Peppercorn Grill for their restaurant of choice tomorrow, Hargrove said, “The important thing is [at Peppercorn], you can have time to visit with your family without having to be in the kitchen cooking and doing dishes. All of my employees are working on this day, which is a lot to ask of [them], so we can provide a delicious meal for the community.”
