LUBBOCK, TX- A 39-year-old San Angelo man was convicted by a federal grand jury for one count of distribution and possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine and aiding and abetting.
Richard Jasso faces a mandatory life sentence, but a sentencing date was not immediately set.
Including Jasso, there are 12 defendants who have been charged in an indictment for their roles in the San Angelo-based methamphetamine distribution conspiracy, news source KTXS reported.
Jasso’s conviction was announced in a press release on Wednesday by U.S. Attorney John Parker of the Northern District of Texas.
According to Parker, the government filed a notice of enhancement because Jasso has two previous “felony drug offenses.”
Jasso has been in custody since July 13, 2016, as part of a joint Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force operation that included the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Texas Department of Public Safety and the San Angelo Police Department.
The press release stated and KTXS reported, “With Jasso’s conviction, all 12 defendants charged in the indictment have been convicted and await sentencing.”
