Police Arrest Burglar Recognized in Surveillance Video

A  San Angelo man was put behind bars Monday for burglarizing a building, thanks to officers who recognized him from video surveillance footage early this morning.

At approximately 7:32 a.m., San Angelo Police Patrol Officers J. Polnick and L. Cortinas responded to a burglary call at the Medical Arts Pharmacy building located at 2102 Pecos St. While on scene, Officer Polnick and Cortinas reviewed video surveillance footage from the incident, receiving a description of both the suspect and his vehicle, a silver 4 door Oldsmobile Alero.

Officers Polnick and Cortinas then checked the surrounding area and located a vehicle matching the one from the surveillance video in the parking lot of the San Angelo Lodge. While the Officers were attempting to obtain owner information on the vehicle, a male approached them about their interest in the vehicle. The Officers immediately recognized him as the suspect in the video.  After further investigation at the Pharmacy and the Lodge, the male suspect was taken into custody at 11:00 am.

The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Nickolas Jones, was charged with Burglary of a Building and transported to the Tom Green County Jail.

The property stolen was valued at approximately $15,000.00 and was described as assorted controlled substances.

Technicians from the Crime Scene Investigations Section were instrumental in the collection of physical evidence linking the suspects to the crime scene. Detective C. Moore is the lead investigator assigned to the case.
