CBP Officers at Eagle Pass Port Halt Human Smuggling Attempt

EAGLE PASS, TX – U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Eagle Pass Port of Entry arrested a woman who allegedly attempted to smuggle a Mexican minor into the United States.

This case serves to underscore that commitment in the detection of this attempt to smuggle a child without the proper documentation to enter the country.”  

On Oct. 29, CBP officers at Camino Real International Bridge, inspected a 2012 Nissan Altima, driven by a U.S. citizen, as it arrived from Mexico. Upon questioning, CBP officers learned that the minor was a Mexican citizen without legal documents to enter the U.S. and the woman allegedly provided the U.S. birth certificate to smuggle him into the U.S. illegally.

The 48-year-old woman, from Lyons, Georgia will appear before a U.S. magistrate for alleged violation of immigration law.
