San Angelo PD Public Information Officer Sgt. Brian Robinson confirmed the identity of the driver as 22-year-old Randy Sutton.

The manhunt began on Saturday night at approximately 10:20 p.m. Officer Tony Dietz initiated a traffic stop on a passenger vehicle at 19th and Pecan Streets. Rather than stop, Sutton evaded police, continuing through several blocks on Armstrong St. and then turn north on County Road 208 towards the county line.

After several blocks, Sutton crossed the city line, and was no longer in the San Angelo Police Department's jurisdiction. Sgt. Robinson explains that when this happens, other agencies become involved, acounting for the presence of multiple vehicles from the DPS and Sheriff's Office in addition to the police.

The vehicle eventually crashed in a field and Sutton continued to flee on foot, but was swiftly caught and transported to Tom Green County Jail for evading arrest on foot and evading in a motor vehicle.

Sutton was also booked on four active county warrants.
