EAGLE PASS, TX - On Sunday October 9, Customs and Border Patrol Officers confiscated 197 pounds of marijuana. The officers intercepted the vehicle as it tried to enter at the Eagle Pass Port of Entry, said a press release.
The driver of the vehicle, a 25-year-old man from Fort Worth, attempted to enter the country in a 1996 Dodge Ram pickup. After officers realized the bed of the truck had been altered, they conducted a non-intrusive search with imaging system. A CBP canine was utilized for further investigation.
According to the CBP press release, the officers retrieved 70 packages of marijuana from a non-factory compartment.
“This interception of illegal drugs truly exemplifies the teamwork of our officers working at our port,” said Port Director John Brandt for Eagle Pass Port of Entry. “Our officers employed a combination of observational skills and high tech tools to uncover this load and prevent it from going any further.”
