Conaway, House Republicans Remind Voters of Past State of the Union Addresses

Tuesday at 8 p.m. Central tTme, President Obama goes inside the House chambers to make his sixth State of the Union address (or, in D.C.-speak, the SOTU speech). There's not a Republican around who is showing much excitement. When the networks break normal programming to show it, my bet is not many San Angeloans will be too excited to watch it, either.

But, for you political junkies, here's some red meat.

The House Republican Conference pre-released two videos highlighting what they assert are boken promises of previous State of the Union addresses by President Obama. Our Congressman Mike Conaway is a member of the HRC. 

In the first video, President Obama is shown in his 2009 and 2010 addresses lamenting about the loss of jobs and the sluggish economy, promising to focus on the problem. News clips from CNN and other newscasts provide a historical overview of the continued laggard American economy that lingered after the SOTU addresses.

In the second video, clips of President Obama are shown where he is making statements about the unafforability of health care and why Obamacare is necessary. "It's the fastest growing portion of our budget," the President says of the pre-Obamacare health care expenses. After each statement of President Obama's laments about heath care costs and the effects on the U.S. economy, new sclips from newspapers are superimposed reminding voters that these same problems still exist, or are worse, under Obamacare.

Who is watching the State of the Union address tonight? If you believe what the House Republicans say about all of the past SOTU, what President Obama says tonight will matter not.
