SAN ANGELO, TX - The San Angelo Police Department sent out an alert at 11:42 a.m. asking that drivers avoid W. 7th & N. Bryant due to a major crash.
Currently, southbound traffic is down to two lanes, so expect delays in the area.
Update 12:20 p.m.
SAPD Officer Brian Bylsma said he was dispatched to the intersection of 7th St. & Bryant Blvd. for an unknown vehicle crash. Upon arrival, officers upgraded the crash to major because the driver of a 2008 Nissan Rogue complained of injury.
Officer Bylsma said the driver possibly hit the steering wheel.
He said the investigation revealed that the driver of the Nissan was southbound on Bryant in the right lane, while the driver of a 2002 Ford F-250 was making a left turn.
“He’s telling me that he had a solid green light when he made his left hand turn,” said Officer Bylsma.
However, the driver said the Nissan was coming faster than he thought it was, and the vehicles collided.
The driver of the Nissan was transported to Shannon Medical Center for further observation, and the driver of the Ford was issued a citation for failure to yield the right of way turning left. Also, the driver of the Nissan will receive a citation for not wearing her glasses, said Officer Bylsma.
