Border Patrol Agents Arrest Two Previously Deported Sex Offenders

DEL RIO, TX - U.S. Border Patrol agents at Eagle Pass Station and Carrizo Springs Station arrested two convicted sex offenders on separate occasions. The arrestees, Juan Francisco Martinez-Berrones, 21, and Hector Napoleon-Diaz, 35, were previously removed from the U.S.

According to a press release, on Sept. 13, Eagle Pass Border Patrol agents apprehended undocumented immigrant Martinez-Berrones, and during processing, they discovered he was convicted of sexual assault of a child-fondling, a second degree felony, in San Antonio. Martinez-Berrones was sentenced to five years probation, fined $1,500 and removed to Mexico.

On Sept 15, Napleon-Diaz was apprehended by Carrizo Springs Border Patrol agents. During processing, agents discovered that the undocumented Honduras immigrant was convicted of felony rape in Lexington, Kentucky and was removed to his home country.

Both Martinez-Berrones and Napoleon-Diaz face a charge of illegal re-entry after deportation, which carries a possible sentence up to 20 years in prison.

“The men and women of the United States Border Patrol work diligently to protect our communities against the criminals attempting to enter our country illegally,” said Del Rio Sector Acting Chief Patrol Agent Matthew J. Hudak. “The security of this nation is our top priority.”
